Spannish Speaking Visitor

Someone left a Spanish comment on one of my posting, The Flash Mind Reader.

Claudio is from South America, probably Santiago. He/She said "Quiero ver com puedo bajar este archivo". Babelfish told me it's "I want to see com I can lower this file". I guess what Claudio actually wanted to ask is "I want to know how to download/archive/save this file to my PC".

Well, if you are able to see the Flash applet running in your browser, the applet 'psychic.swf' should have been downloaded and cached in your 'Temporary Internet Files' folder somewhere on your C: drive. Drag it out to your desktop.

Each time you want to run it, drag it into an Internet Explorer browser and it should work.

Otherwise, right click on this and choose 'Save As', you will get the file. La buena suerte y goza!

My Nedstat statistic told me I have visitors from the following countries. Interesting.

Comparing Nokia 6610 and 7250

Beside 7250 having 5MB of memory and integrated camera...

1. 7250's Menu graphics are animated.
2. Configurable right select button. Can be changed from 'Names' to 'Go to' and opens up a selection of menu items of your choice including radio etc.
3. 7250 does not come with Nokia PC Suite CD. Have to download from Nokia's website yourself, or mail in the CD request form.
4. Java applet 'Portfolio II' is not pre-installed.
5. 'Chess Puzzle' has been replaced by 'Triple Pop'.
6. Keypad easier to press even if you are not looking at it, though looks damn sucky.
7. More and better graphics and ringtones pre-installed.
8. The Alarm feature is now under Organizer. Alarm tone can be chosen from Standard, Gallery or using the built in Radio. To use the built in Radio as alarm tone, attach the headset as antenna or else the phone will use the standard tone instead. No no no, don't wear the headset while sleeping, you want to strangle yourself or what? The radio alarm works through built in speaker.

Nokia PC Suite 5.0 does not support Nokia 7250. Have to download PC Suite 5.1. The Nokia Phone Browser in PC Suite 5.1 sucks big time. Cannot maintain connection to phone. IR signal keeps dropping despite lowering the transmission speed. Called up Nokia Careline. Was told that it's due to 'third party IR driver', yeah right, third party my foot. So there's no way for me to download the photos that I've taken from the phone to my PC?

Not really. Try to avoid launching the Nokia Phone Browser if it hangs your PC. Instead, just connect your phone via IR to the PC and browse to 'My Documents' in your hard disk. You will find a subfolder there called 'Nokia Phone Browser'. Under that, is the '7250' folder that contains everything in your phone. Here's a sample photo taken with Nokia 7250.

Coming Soon...

...to my handphone screen.

camera_menu.jpg

Nokia 7250 will have 5MB of memory, more than enough for games, applications and hundreds of photos.

Despite the fact that its keypad layout is super sucky (like what Paul said "dunno why nokia has to at least spoil ONE PART of every phone they release"), overall it's a good phone.

The integrated camera is tempting. Being an owner of 3 digital cameras, I seldom bring them with me these days. So I missed a lot of opportunities snapping shots of Kancil falling into drain. Hopefully Nokia 7250 is going to change that.

Here's a good site with review on Nokia 7250, with sample photos taken with the phone.

And stop reminding me that my Nokia 6610 is only 18 days old. :P

Estimating BP

What you read below is solely for recreational purpose only.

If you have enough experience in A&E (Accident and Emergency) setting, you would have come across plenty of patients with 'feeble' pulse as opposed to normal pulse pressure.

I've been taught to palpate pulse using three fingers, the index, middle and ring fingers on the radial side of the wrist over the radial artery.

Applying pressure from the proximal finger (index finger or middle finger) and the pulsatile sensation will disappear from the distal finger (ring finger).

By noticing the amount of pressure you must exert in order to block the pulse, compare it with the reading on the sphygmomanometer. In due time, you maybe able to estimate a patient's blood pressure by feeling for the pulse alone, quite accurately.

However, do not block the artery for too long and avoid doing it on patients with an AV (arterio-venous) shunt.

Traffic Police

Paul inspired me to write this after reading his post.

There was once a colleague, driving a Proton Wira. He was doing some 110km/h on a kampung road on a rainy night. There was this white Wira tailgating behind him. So he picked up speed to around 150km/h. Still the Wira was following him. Finally he got fed up and slowed down. He looked into the rear view mirror and saw the blue panel on top of the white Wira and realized it was actually a police patrol car. The white Wira let out a few siren, so he pulled over. The white Wira pulled over to the opposite side, two policemen came out, holding pistols at arm length. He was instructed to come out of the car very slowly and put his hands on the roof of the car. One of the policemen came over, searched him for weapon but there was none. So they asked him for his ID. He told them he was in a hurry to do an emergency appendicectomy and they let him go.

Another time, a surgeon was caught speeding. The policeman that caught him asked him to show his IC and driving licence. But instead, he took out his hospital identity card. On the hospital ID, it was written 'Pakar Pembedahan' and he thought the policeman will let him go. Instead, the policeman asked him: "Lu talak bawak IC kah?" So he took out his IC and explained to the police he was in a hurry for some operation too. And the policeman asked his colleague: "Ini 'pakar' har, doktor juga kah?"

Me? Heh, small offence once. Didn't wear seat belt driving in small town area going two blocks across. The police spotted me and came over. He recognized me and said sorry. LOL.

Estimation

Friend : "Eh, doc, I want to get some clothes for my gf."

Dr. Liew : "OK."

Friend : "But I don't know what size to buy."

Dr. Liew : "Ask her lor..."

Friend : "Cannot, cannot... It's for her birthday, supposed to be a surprise."

Dr. Liew : "Like that ah... Try this: bust 32 inches, waist 28 inches, hip 36 inches. Estimate only, not necessary accurate one."

Friend : "Okay, okay. Better than nothing."

Few days later...

Friend : "Doc, the measurement you gave me the other day was right."

Dr. Liew : "Izzit? Good lor."

Friend : "Now tell me frankly, have you been observing her?"

Dr. Liew : "WTF? No lah. I was guessing only!"

Friend : "Then how come so accurate one?"

Dr. Liew : "How I know wor? Probably I should guess the next Toto number."

Friend : "Yeah, right, 'guess', heh. Damn dangerous lah you."

Dr. Liew : "Wooi! Bugger."

Friend : "Hehehe, no lah no lah. Just pulling your leg."

Dr. Liew : "#@$%#$@!"

Golden Sun

I haven't been touching my Game Boy Advance for a long long time. I charged up the rechargeable battery pack, inserted the Golden Sun cartridge and wanted to go back to a saved game just to enjoy the nice music. But...

The saved games were gone! WTH! Arghh!!!

SuZen : "Download the MP3 lor... That's what MP3s are for, rite?"

But I failed to find any MP3 for Golden Sun, yet. :-(

Instead, I found Visual Boy Advance, a GBA emulator for PC. LOL. And downloaded the ROM of Golden Sun 2. Huehueheuheuheu... Very chun!

Golden Sun is the best RPG for GBA last year. It comes with a save game function. The game comes with loads of puzzles and it takes time to complete them. At the end, your character would have gathered much experience point, Djinn (Genie) etc etc.

In Golden Sun 2, you can opt to transfer the character from Golden Sun so as to make the start easier. But I've lost the saved games of Golden Sun! *stab*

Called up the game shop. The game shop boss said he has Golden Sun 2 in stock! Hooray! He also said that the battery in my Golden Sun game cartridge might have gone. And changing the battery will cost twelve bucks and 2 days. But I can't wait for 2 days! So I bought another new cartridge of Golden Sun for forty bucks, huehuehue...

So I'm going to load the walkthrough of Golden Sun into my PDA and hopefully I can finish Golden Sun within 24 hours following the walkthrough and transfer the character over to Golden Sun 2.

I've gotten Shining Soul too, dunno what kind of game it is. The game shop boss said it's selling like hot cakes. :-/
